Call for Papers
The IEEE-EMBS Hong Kong Chapter is currently organizing a student paper competition to provide students with a platform to present their work in biomedical engineering and to interact with their peers at Hong Kong. Both graduate and undergraduate students from a tertiary institute in Hong Kong can register for free to attend this competition, and they are encouraged to submit their papers in but not limited to the following topics:
- Biomedical Signal Processing
- Biomedical Imaging & Image Processing
- Bioinstrumentation, Biosensors, and Bio-micro/nano Technologies
- Bioinformatics, Computational Biology & Systems Biology
- Cardiovascular & Respiratory Systems Engineering
- Neural & Rehabilitation Engineering
- Cellular & Tissue Engineering, & Biomaterials
- Bio-Robotics & Biomechanics
- Healthcare Information Systems & Telemedicine
- Technology Commercialization, Industry, Education and Society
Submission Information
Prospective participants are invited to submit abstracts in English for oral presentations in the final competition. The abstracts are expected to be of one page in length (with a second page allowed for tables and figures), and they should be accompanied with a submission form. General Rules
All completed abstracts and submission forms should be sent in PDF format to the executive secretariat through email:
embs.hk@ieee.org.
Review Process
Submissions are evaluated on their originality, scientific merits, structure, and clarity of composition by the Invited Reviewing Board in the initial review. The finalists are selected based on the merits of submissions. Finalists must attend the competition held on Aug 29, in Room 1006, HKPC Building, 78 Tat Chee Avenue, Kowloon, Hong Kong, and present their papers orally. Those receiving high scores weighted from the initial review and oral presentation will win the competition.
Awards
First prize: IEEE student member fee for one year, HK$800, and a Certificate of Merit
Second prize: IEEE student member fee for one year, HK$400, and a Certificate of Merit
Third prize: IEEE student member fee for one year and a Certificate of Merit

Notification of finalist: Aug 15, 2009 EXTENDED
